Shimane AQUAS Aquarium (しまね海洋館アクアス)

Have you heard about the famous aquarium in Shimane? This is one of the largest aquariums in the Chugoku and Shikoku region. An aquarium which houses over 10,000 marine creatures from 400 species. Charming performances by nation-wide famous belugas, seals, and sea lions can not be missed. It's called "Shimane AQUAS Aquarium" in Hamada city, Shimane prefecture. It takes 2 hours and 25 mins from Matsue city.
The aquarium is famous for the cute beluga whales and their charming performance called bubble rings, which are made by belugas exhaling from their blowholes, is the one you cannot miss. This performance has become popular when it appeared in a popular Japanese TV commercial.
At the penguin pavilion, you can observe the King penguins, Gentoo penguins, Rockhopper penguins, and Humboldt penguins. If you have chance to watch“the penguin feeding time", you can learn their lifestyles. You can also see penguins dive powerfully into the water from under their pool.
They also have a seal and sea-lion show that you may enjoy. They perform simple tricks in return for fish. Not just by kids, but also the adults love the show.
