A helpful guide to enjoying the spectacular views and sunsets of Lake Shinji

All guest rooms in this facility offer lake views overlooking Lake Shinji, however, due to the building's location,
You will not be able to directly view the circle of the setting sun (the sun's halo) from your room."
However, on days with good conditions, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset that paints the sky and the surface of the lake.
In some cases, you can enjoy the experience from the comfort of your room.
  • To ensure you enjoy the most spectacular sunset during your trip to Matsue, please make use of the following information.

    • You can check information about the sunset at Lake Shinji in advance.

      ❶ Check the "Sunset Index" It is recommended to check the "Sunset Index" published by Matsue Tourism Association in advance.
      ❷ Check the "sunset time". It is recommended to check the "sunset time" announced by Matsue Tourism Association in advance.
      ❸ If you want to see a truly spectacular sunset, we recommend checking out the "Sunset Spots" announced by Matsue Tourism Association.The best spots to watch the sunset over Lake Shinji are Torupa area and the area around Shimane Art Museum.

      The sunset over Lake Shinji is an astonishingly fleeting drama, from the moment the sky begins to change color until the sun sets.
      Since traveling after the sunset begins to appear significantly increases the chance of missing the most beautiful moment, we recommend the following three preparations.

      ◇Checking the forecast "one hour in advance" is key!  Check Matsue Tourism Association's "Sunset Index" in advance.On days with a high index, the trick is to start preparing an hour before sunset.

      ◇Arrive at your viewing spot at least 30 minutes before the show starts!  The "magic hour," just before the sun sets, is when the sky shines brightest.Please plan your schedule so that you arrive at your desired viewing spot 30 minutes to an hour before sunset.

      ◇Waiting until you start to see results won't be enough!  Even if you head to the spot after you start to see the sunset from your room, the sun will have already set by the time you arrive.Please be prepared and wait for "that time" with plenty of time to spare.

      ◆The sun sets behind the west side of the building, so you cannot see it directly from your room.
    • About the location of Matsue Shinji Ko (lake) Onsen resort area

      Matsue Shinji Ko (lake) Onsen resort is located on the northern shore of Lake Shinji.
      Therefore, to enjoy the sunset in the west, we recommend visiting a designated viewing spot.
    • ★To guests staying in Room 308 (corner view):

      【Important Notice】
      Due to the structure of this room, a portion of the view will include the emergency staircase.
      While there are some limitations on the view, we also offer plan allow you to stay in these rooms at a more reasonable price than our other rooms.
      This is perfect for those who want to actively enjoy the sunset outdoors and relax affordably in their room.
